The 16.1.4-T single twist double basket iron baluster features a single 8″ twist and two 5-1/2″ baskets. This baluster is hollow wrought iron and is 1/2″ square. It uses the shoes for the half inch balusters 16.3.19 and 16.3.2. This single twist baluster pairs with all other half inch products.

  1. Remove the old balusters by cutting them in the middle and twisting out the ends.
  2. Drill a 3/4" hole about 1" deep in the bottom of the handrail and 2-1/2" to 3" deep in the tread, centered where each baluster goes.
  3. Measure each baluster: hole-to-hole distance plus the depth of the top hole. Cut the bottom with a metal chop saw or angle grinder.
  4. Slide a base shoe onto the baluster, insert the top into the handrail, then drop the bottom into the tread hole.
  5. Fill the tread hole with epoxy or construction adhesive, slide the shoe down and tighten its set screw.
