The 6084 Modern Straight Wood Handrail is the go-to rail for contemporary staircases. Its flat, wide top steps down to a narrower base, giving a clean modern line that pairs naturally with iron balusters, cable railing and square box newels while staying within residential building code grip requirements. The graduated profile is comfortable in the hand and looks sharp from every angle.
Each rail is milled from first-grade hardwood, free of knots and defects, and arrives sanded and ready to stain. We recommend a light sanding with 220-grit or finer paper before finishing to remove handling marks. A full line of matching 6084 fittings — volutes, turnouts, goosenecks, easings, quarter turns and caps — is available so you can complete any stair layout in one profile.

- Measure the run from newel to newel or wall to wall along the pitch.
- Cut the rail and any fittings with a fine-tooth miter saw.
- Join fittings with rail bolts and glue. Sand the joints smooth.
- Fasten to newels or wall brackets every 4 ft or less, then stain or paint.
