This 16.3.26 shoe works with 9/16″ Tuscan round iron balusters, and sits on a flat surface. The Set Screw is a small screw on the side of the shoe that can be tightened to hold the shoe in place. It does not go into the floor. See additional product images for a more clear understanding of the set screw.

- Remove the old balusters by cutting them in the middle and twisting out the ends.
- Drill a 3/4" hole about 1" deep in the bottom of the handrail and 2-1/2" to 3" deep in the tread, centered where each baluster goes.
- Measure each baluster: hole-to-hole distance plus the depth of the top hole. Cut the bottom with a metal chop saw or angle grinder.
- Slide a base shoe onto the baluster, insert the top into the handrail, then drop the bottom into the tread hole.
- Fill the tread hole with epoxy or construction adhesive, slide the shoe down and tighten its set screw.
